THE BRIEF & VISION
A underground New York Club. Dark, midnight and mysterious with accents of indigo blues and purples. Suspended green botanical features as the focal point would in turn create a dramatic effect to the subdued aesthetic of the event. Rather than lush and organic, the idea was to use more contained and manicured botanical art.
The starting point: collaboration meetings fostered floor plan studies and initial area allocations - first the two food bars installations in size 4m by 6m, followed by a thin green wall that would act as our full stop to the botanical view points. Smaller botanical displays for the cocktail, lounge areas and conversation areas, in bold pops of colour would add a more futuristic appeal. A palette of cerulean, aqua marine, orchid & grape predominately facilitated by indigo allowed us to create a consistency through design across the board.
As a skeleton, the bar cage was manufactured to fit together as puzzle. purposely designed with hollow opening for the accent of decorative bulbs. The bar cage, mirrored the exact silhouette of 360 degree rectangular food bars. In order to manipulate the look and feel from foraged greenery , we had to venture out, cut what we thought could work and play around. From here we drew up a plan of action, due to us foraging every piece of greenery and foliage used, we managed this project days before setup. Mise en place was vital to allow for efficient work on site. A full installation team and botanical team facilitated the on site installation and layer by layer our plantain developed.
